Design Overview: Thiên nhiên, which means nature in Vietnamese, is a healthcare facility that caters to the Vietnamese community in Westminster, CA. It assists citizens in need of a detox, a sense of community, or mental health services. Cultural competency, patient needs, and ergonomics were woven into the design. Overall, the space promotes health and wellness through furniture and material selections. Inspiration is pulled from Vietnam’s intricate latticework, water lilies, and tranquil landscape. Harmony, rhythm, and balance were the key design principles utilized in this health clinic. The renderings below are from the Thiên nhiên waiting area and teen lounge.
